The fine print, in plain English
SeveranceVerdict is a general-information and education site about severance agreements. It is not a law firm, and nothing on this site is legal advice. Reading this site, using the checker, or buying the kit does not create an attorney-client relationship — or any other professional relationship — between you and CLEADEAL LLC.
Every severance situation is different. The benchmarks on this site are commonly reported ranges drawn from published sources as of October 2026; they describe what offers typically look like, not what your employer owes you or what any negotiation will produce. Severance is generally not required by law in the United States (outside of specific notice statutes and individual contracts or policies), and what you can negotiate depends on your facts, your agreement, and your state's law.
The legal rules mentioned here — including the OWBPA review windows for workers 40 and over and state noncompete rules — are summarized in general terms and change over time. They are a starting point for your own research, not a statement of the law as it applies to you. Deadlines in an actual agreement, and the validity of any waiver in it, are exactly the kind of specific questions a licensed employment attorney in your state can answer.
Some situations are simply too big for a website. If your separation involves substantial unvested equity, facts suggesting discrimination, retaliation, or whistleblower protection, an executive employment contract, or a restrictive covenant your next job depends on, consult an employment attorney before signing anything. The kit's final section exists to help you recognize those situations.
By using this site, you accept that decisions about your agreement are yours, made at your own risk, and that you will verify anything consequential with a qualified professional.
